What happened to all men being born equal!! I guess the
crusaders of equality have been misinterpreting this phrase for decades. That
is why when the flair of woman emancipation is in the air, the brunt of this
misinterpretation has to be borne by the members of LGBT community. Okay!! I
know what’s in the name thing. But seriously when we do not have a male
community, a female community, then why some people are to belong to some LGBT
community? Can’t it be stated that males, females and LGBT are members of the
society simply without attempting to communalize any member of the society?
Children are God’s grace. Then how can some children who
don’t understand the complex technicalities of this ambivalent ambiguous
society be marginalized over their sexuality? Truly ambiguous and ambivalent; the society does know its “rights” but sometimes can’t raise its voice for
what’s “right”. I know this is the harsh truth but if you belong to the Indian
society and are not straight, then life’s thorny paths are never going to be
straight for you! To stand upright in the society, you must stand straight or
if a spark of rebellion is seen, then you would be entangled in the web of laws
as being straight would do the charm but being straightforward about your
identity may not!!
What will you have to do then?? NO..NO..Some baba is not a
solution to this because this is not about a disease but a perfectly breathing
soul’s survival crisis. So, just be yourself but remember to stifle your voice,
strangle your heart, restrict your rights!! I guess you must have got the
elucidation on “being yourself” by now. This elaboration was necessary. Who
knows you might misinterpret the clearly mentioned:
“Equality before law: Article 14 of the constitution”
guaranteeing that all citizens shall be equally protected by the laws of the
country which means that the State cannot discriminate any of the Indian
citizens on the basis of their caste, creed, colour, sex, religion or place of
birth.
After all, we are the citizens of the
largest democracy in the world where “equality for all” is the buzzword. So, we
should understand that “equality for all” is a term selective in nature,
choosing among all. Funny isn’t it?
Though my itchy fingers don’t want to write anything about
caste, creed, religion or place of birth for now but when it comes to colour,
they would advise you to either fall for blue or pink but in case you have an
eye for the splendid rainbow, then better accustom your eyes to darkness. And
they have written all they wanted about a person’s gender. I know in the last
article, we said “ be gay or be a gay” but seeing the present day scenario in
India, we would rather say “either be gay or be a gay”. But as they say hope
never dies and though my itchy fingers are annoyed, I am humming the lyrics of
a beautiful song for the "controversial community":
I'm beautiful
in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way
Don't hide
yourself in regret,
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way, yeah
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way, yeah
No matter
gay, straight, or bi
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to survive………..
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to survive………..
