Human : Ahaa! I am loving this place called Earth. Just planning to stay a little long. The search for elixir of life is still on.
Polythene: Oh you poor animal! I am sure you'll be fossilized but I am going to stay here for long.
This dialogue has been haunting me in my dreams since long. Recent climatic changes, untimely floods, garbage in the mountains and the rivers and pollution everywhere has made my fingers even more itchy.
I wonder when would be living beings free of synthetic menace.
What do you think?

That's so true. I've just come to see the ill effects of plastic use this year. I mean we use it very few times (straws maybe once?) and for few minutes to few hours but they are made to last for much longer than that - not really breaking down into our soil. We should consider alternatives~ !
ReplyDeleteYes Jeffy! You are absolutely right. Alternatives are the need of the hour, but it is getting really hard to bring awareness to everyone on this subject!!
Deleteno wonder what will happen in future.. how we are going to survive
ReplyDeleteYes Manzar! It seems 'Survival of the fittest' theory is no more applicable for us. Plastic is both weakening and empowering us!!
DeleteSubway has started using paper straws keeping the harmful effects of plastic in mind. When I try to convince my colleagues to stop using one-time-usage plastic, they laugh. No one is actually bothered about the planet. I encourage my colony storekeepers to refrain from plastic but they do provide polythene to customers who ask for it. One or two people doing so will only create small difference. The awareness and activity need to be on larger scale.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Shilpi! Nobody cares what happens tomorrow. We are all seeing calamities like those of Kerala-God's own country, worsening beyond proportions. War against plastic should be people's motto and not laugh along plastic .
